Jealousy

For the past twenty two months, one week, and three days, C has been the baby of the house. Never needing to be "gentle" or to share his "baby" toys with anyone because D was never interested.

A week ago, L and Z came for an extended visit. While they've spent the majority of the time in the Valley with L's sister and dad, there have been a couple of nights where they've stayed with us and yesterday the boys and I got to keep Z all to ourselves.

I had a mini photo shoot. (I need to get on Pinterest to find more photo ideas).

D wasn't that into her. He'd come up and say hi or give her a kiss and then go back to what he was doing.

C, on the other hand, wasn't too sure how he should feel. He was perplexed when I held her, indifferent when she was playing on a blanket on the floor, confused when she ate in his high chair, and down right annoyed when she was in the jumper. He never purposefully harmed Z, but he also didn't watch what he was doing. Z on the floor? That's ok, he'll still run/walk by at full speed. Z in the swing? That's ok, he'll still try and push it as fast as it'll go. Z in the jumper? That's ok, it won't stop C from trying to climb in the jumper with her. Z in the bumbo? That's ok, C will bide his time until it's his turn and then he'll hog it for awhile. Or hide it.

Case in point? Z and I were having a nice lunch together. The boys were playing with their cars and therefor occupied. They didn't want to have anything to do with us.

However, once I put an old toy in front of Z (one that C had not even played with) C was all over her like white on rice. Moving her fingers, taking the toy away, hogging her space... C tried taking over and Z was not a happy camper.

Not to say that C was a complete terror to Z. He had his sweet moments and his moments when he completely ignored her. But it was nice to see C around a baby to see if he'd change his demeanor any. Z is away visiting Nana for a long weekend, but we can't wait to see her again next week!

She has such a sweet face!

C is probably so happy he has his momma's love all to himself again.
