Thankful Tuesday

It's 12:41 AM and I should be asleep. Bedtime was over two hours ago, as tomorrow (today?) we have things to do. Places to go, people to see, and hopefully a trip to the park if the weather cooperates.

But I'm still awake because one certain little sick boy has been crying off and on in his sleep. Each time I think he's actually awake, I find him under his favorite blanket, clutching Mickey in one hand and an extra binky in the other like they are his life lines. C is sick, and has been over the weekend. Fevers and side affects to the antibiotics have made him a grouchy boy when it comes to sleep and resting. During the day he's bouncing off the walls one minute, screaming at whomever did something wrong the next. For the most part, C is happy during the day playing with his cars. But once night falls, all bets are off.

So today I am thankful for this

and the relief that it gives him during the night so that he can try and sleep comfortably.

Tomorrow (Today?) we go back to the doctors for a follow up. Hopefully she'll be able to make C more comfortable and tell me where my ENT referral is.

Kid-isms mixed with Thankful Tuesday

"Calling people on my talk-u-lator" and "Nana, you're cracking me up" are just a few of the things that D has said in the past that brought a smile to my face. Thanksgiving brought "Mom, I wiped my own butt!" to a restaurant full of people eating turkey and pizza. Monday morning... Kel and I think this takes the cake. It's not so much as a "kid-ism" as a realization for Kel and I at how much of a manipulator D has become. Especially in terms of help in the bathroom.

A normal conversation would be:

D :" Mom, can you come wipe my butt?!"
Me: "No, you are old enough to do that yourself."
D: " Okay Mom."

And then we'd go about our day until the next time he has a bowl movement and we replay this conversation for the 98734382695235 time.

This morning it was :

D (While sitting on the toilet): "Mom, you know what?"
Me (While making breakfast for the boys): "What Buddy?"
D: "I love you Mommy. Thank you for being a great mommy."
Me: "I love you too Buddy, thank you for being a great son."

Thirty seconds later...

D: "Mom can you wipe my butt since you are such a great mommy?"

Seriously?

I'm thankful that my kid will wipe his own but 85% of the time.

Thankful Tuesday on Thursday

Today I am thankful for the maturity that comes with age. Especially when that maturity allows me to have a relationship with my sister that we didn't have when we were teenagers. It's a work in progress, and not without it's own bumps in the road, but I'm thankful that I have it now. That I have someone I can talk to and know, without a doubt, that she isn't going to sugar coat anything. And I'm hoping that it will only grow stronger as we grow older.

Thankful Tuesday

Today I'm thankful for this surprise.

I was 21 and just moving in with Kel and kids were nowhere in our near future plans. In fact, if it was up to Kel, we wouldn't have even thought of having any kids until he turned thirty. Funny how surprises change everything.

I'm so thankful that I have a happy, healthy, thriving four year old who loves to surprise me daily.

Thankful Tuesday

Today I'm thankful for my partner in crime. And for the ten years that we've had together. And the two boys that we have together (but that's a whole different post).  And I'm grateful that after all that we've been through, you are still the one I fall asleep next to at night and wake up to in the morning. At least when we aren't kicked out of our bed by C and D.

I love you.

" We are all a little weird and
Life's a little weird,
And when we find someone whose
Weirdness is compatible with ours,
We join up with them and fall in
Mutual weirdness and call it Love."
~Dr. Seuss

Thankful Tuesday

I don't have much to report, and unless something fun happens over the weekend or next, then I won't have any adventure to post until Thanksgiving. So I'm going to do a Thankful Tuesday, Wordless Wednesday, and Flashback Friday post that are so popular in blogland.

So for Thankful Tuesday , I'm going to say that I am thankful for my sisters and brothers. For being apart of the Crazy Clark Crew. Sometimes it was hard being one of six, but I couldn't imagine it any other way.
